Waukesha County blends city services with country lots. Homes in the City of Waukesha, Brookfield, New Berlin and Menomonee Falls generally connect to municipal sanitary sewers, while houses on larger rural parcels may rely on a private septic system instead.
The county enrolls every property with a septic system in its maintenance program, which typically calls for the tank to be pumped or inspected once every three years. We are not septic pumpers. Still, a slow drain in a septic home is not always a full tank, because hair, grease or a broken fitting in the building drain can cause the same symptoms, and that part we can snake and put a camera on.
Menomonee Falls is direct about it: the property owner is fully responsible for maintaining adequate sewage flow to and through the sewer lateral. When a resident reports a backup, village crews first check the public main, and if the main is clear, the owner is told to hire a plumber or drain cleaning service.
That handoff is exactly where we come in. We run a cable machine from your cleanout, cut out roots or sludge, and use the HD camera to show whether the pipe itself has a crack or separated joint that calls for a spot repair. Other Waukesha County communities set their own rules, so it pays to ask your village or city hall before assuming who covers what.
Roots are the usual reason a lateral keeps closing up in neighborhoods with big shade trees. After cutting them out, we can apply a treatment that slows regrowth, and the camera footage tells you whether a cracked joint is letting them in.
On October 9, 2023, the City of Waukesha began delivering Lake Michigan water in place of its old groundwater supply. The city described the new water as about 60% softer and asked residents who keep a softener to adjust it by January 1, 2025, to cut the salt and chloride that ends up back in local waterways.
If your softener has not been re-tuned since the switch, or you are on a private well elsewhere in the county and dealing with hard water, give us a call. We install water softeners and can help size the setup to the water you actually have.
While we are there, we can also look over a water heater that has been running short on hot water or making noise.
Finished basements and larger homes shape a lot of what we see in this county. A clogged laundry or floor drain matters more when there is carpet and drywall nearby, and long runs of pipe give leaks more places to hide.
Commercial properties along the county's busier corridors call us too, usually for a restroom line, a floor drain or a parking lot catch basin that has filled with sediment.
✓ Main line cleaning from the basement or outdoor cleanout
✓ Root removal in laterals running under established yard trees
✓ Laundry and floor drain clogs in finished basements
✓ Camera inspections before buying or remodeling a home
✓ Tank and tankless water heater repair and installation
✓ Water softener installation
✓ Leak detection behind walls, under floors and in buried lines
A few minutes of looking around tells us a lot and can point straight to the cause. Note which fixtures are slow, whether the lowest drain in the house is the one backing up, and whether the trouble started after heavy rain, a party or a remodel.
On a septic property, write down when the tank was last pumped. If only one sink or tub is slow, the clog is probably close to that fixture, while several drains acting up at once usually means the main line.
✓ Which drains are slow or backing up?
✓ Is the lowest floor drain overflowing?
✓ Sewer or septic, and when was the tank last pumped?
✓ Did it start after rain, heavy use or construction?

FAQ
Yes, when the problem is in the drain lines. We snake and camera the building drain to find where the blockage sits. If the tank itself is full, you will need a licensed septic pumper, and we will tell you that up front.
That depends on your preferences and your plumbing. The city's Lake Michigan supply is much softer than the old well water, and the city asked softener owners to turn their settings down. We can look at your unit and talk through whether to re-tune it or leave it be.
We serve Waukesha, Brookfield, New Berlin, Elm Grove, Menomonee Falls, Pewaukee, Hartland and Mukwonago. If you live between those towns, call or text and we will confirm.
The village checks its own main first. If the main is flowing, keeping the lateral open is the owner's job, so you would hire a drain cleaning service like ours to clear it. Village crews can sometimes help you find where your lateral connects, and a plumber can also locate it.
Yes. Our licensed plumbers install and repair both tank and tankless water heaters. We look at your gas or electric supply and venting before recommending a unit.
Yes. We protect flooring and clear floor, laundry and utility drains in finished spaces regularly. If a drain sits under a cabinet or behind a wall panel, let us know ahead of time so we can plan access.
